 Pacific-slope
Flycatcher
The Pacific-slope Flycatcher prefers moist deciduous
woods or mixed slopes with tall trees, where it seeks an
inconspicuous perch. This species is very similar to the
Cordilleran Flycatcher and can best be separated by call,
two-syllabled in Cordilleran and upslurred single note in
Pacific-slope. Formerly conspecific with Cordilleran
Flycatcher and called Western Flycatcher but it was
determined that this previous group was actually two
separate species.
The Pacific-slope Flycatcher nests in tree cavities &
utilizes snags as well as dead branches of live trees.
The Pacific-slope Flycatcher eats mainly flying insects.
Occasionally they will eat berries and seeds. The
Pacific-slope Flycatcher winters in Mexico.
