The Golden-fronted Woodpecker is a year-round resident from southwestern Oklahoma and north-central Texas south through central Texas to Mexico and Central America. It prefers mesquite and riparian woodlands, but also inhabits semiarid brush country, pecan groves and upland oak stands.
